 OUR PROGRAMME

We aim to provide a programme based on the interests of your children and what they enjoy doing. Our programme is a balance of planned activities and free play, allowing your children to participate if they wish or to relax away from school.

Our activities range from baking and cooking, arts and crafts, quizzes and Lego to science experiments, a variety of games, gardening and sports. If there are particular things your children enjoy doing, please let us know.

We're OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) approved and Child, Youth and Family accreditted. We operate with a ratio of 10 children per staff member (8 children per staff member for holiday programmes), with a minimum of two staff on at all times.

Our staffing team is experienced, local and long established. We are well known in the community and have long-standing relationships with Northland School, Work and Income, and Child, Youth and Family.

All our regular staff have current first aid certificates, and all staff are regularly police-checked.

AFTER-SCHOOL CARE : 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.

We meet the children at Northland School at 3 p.m., in the area surrounded by the School Office, the junior block and the school library. If the weather's bad, we'll be up on the wooden balcony outside the junior block.

Just before 3 p.m., we check for any messages in the Northland School Office. It's important that if you want to get a message to us on the day your children are coming (about changes of arrangements etc.), please do so either via the Northland School Office or via our cell phones.

If you need to get a message to your children during the school day about changes of arrangements, just let the Northland School Office know, and they'll let your children know.

When all the children have met us, we'll often make the most of any fine weather by going to play in Northland Park, playing in the lower playground of the school or going to Creswick Tce Park (5 minutes walk away from Northland Kidz Club, past the Northland Shops). Our children enjoy doing this so much that we often don't arrive at Northland Kidz Club until 4 or 4.30 p.m. Because of this, please let us know if you'll be picking your children up earlier, if your children need to be ready by a certain time to go to other activities or if your children are coming to Kidz Club after activities after school. Just text or ring us on our cell phones if you want to know where we are.

When we arrive at Kidz Club, we have more afternoon tea (we have crackers and fruit when we're out and about). We aim to provide a variety of food which our children enjoy – sandwiches, toast, juice, cocoa, pasta, popcorn, noodles, biscuits, fruit, tortillas, baked beans etc. Then it's on to activities and free play. In and around this, we try and fit in ensuring our children do their homework (as requested by their parents).

Although we only meet the children from Northland School, children can come to our after-school care from any school.  If you can arrange for a friend or relative to drop them off, or if they're old enough to walk or catch a bus, we'd love to have them !

HOLIDAY PROGRAMMES EVERY SCHOOL HOLIDAYS  :
8:30 a.m.  -  6 p.m.

Our holiday programmes are times of adventure, when we explore what the Wellington region has to offer.

Our children start arriving from 8.30 in the morning, and settle down to play.  When everyone's arrived, we check that we have everything, and then we're off on our day's activities. If the weather's fine, we take in parks along our way.

If the weather's not so good, we keep to indoor venues.  And on hot, summer days, we're often diverting to nearby beaches and streams, or having lunch in the shade of pohutukawa trees, fanned by a cool sea breeze.
